I briefly mentioned it yesterday as relative to the whole "Is Spring 77 Really That Good?" discussions/arguments/smackdowns/tauntings/baitings. Well, in my opinion..YES, and this is one hell of a snapshot of the boys (and one atonal banshee) firing on all cylinders and blowing it out. Really strong stuff here. The Scarlet/Fire is just too nice and everything after it is so good it shoule be illegal. Oh, the sound quality of the Matrix? Leave it to say that Mr. Seamons has hit it out of the park again. Outstanding is the least I can say.

Was one of our favorite boots back in '81. Willard Scott's daughter even would come outside, have a few beers on the porch, and watch the sun go down.

Springfield '78 is a ripper too.

I prefer the good ol' days of building cabins out of popsicle sticks and Elmer's Glue with Gorbechev. Only bad part was he always managed to step on the thing. Shame, really.

So much so that I'm heading to Wii-hab.

EDIT: just now realized the potential irony in that statement, but I figure if anyone can take it in the spirit intended, it would be you.

An alien from outer space invaded my home, pointed his laser blaster at my face, and demanded I matrix this show, so this was made under extremely fearful circumstances and within a severely compressed time frame - but I think it came out pretty well. He (or she) even demanded the covers too! The alien then had me burn the Flac files to DVD, didn't even say thank you, and zapped my cat with his blaster on his way out to dispose of witnesses (but my cat seems fine today, after a long nap).

Today, however, a telepathic message from the alien came to me saying the wars on their planet and respective solar systems had completely ceased, and they will send me 17 cruptas (lots of alien money) for the services. Guess this music truly does bring peace and happiness to living beings.

Nice to see '77 finally getting the love it deserves. This show is a monumental feat of amazingness...also, for all those who say the '77 set lists are 'all the same'--check this one out, and suck it, monkeys!

But the '66 show from today is perhaps the single coolest show on the archive. There is no other word but "groovy".

I love capn doubledose's review for the Ivar show...

"This is a top three of this whole site. What an incredible petri dish they are experimenting with it's like going back to the garden of eden and seeing how life was created."

1966? Please. There are high school garage bands that sound better than "the Warlocks" did in '66.

I'll take a raw and early schoolgirl over donna's "pretty, perfect harmonies" in '77 any day.

Yes, I would too.

But would you also take all the rest of '77--the incredible jams, great Terrapin material, etc., etc., so you could listen to the same 18-minute Lovelight raps from Pig about gettin' it on w/the hippie standing next to you over and over again?

Don't throw the baby out with Donna's bathwater.
